Visual Studio was giving me this nice error in the dataset designer today. Refusing to allow me to edit my datasets. How dare it! What a waste of time. The fix was to remove the database connection from Data Connection in Server Explorer and then recreate it.

I just ran into this problem. So much for a three minute hack for a utility!
None of the solutions proposed anywhere apply to me - I don't have some funky domain setup, nor have I added any database components to my project yet, so there's nothing to remove. All I have is a splash screen, a form, a statusbar control and the OLEdbConnection. When I click on the combox arrow for the oledbconnection's connectionstring property the computer churns away and I get that idiotic message.
That's one thing Microsoft really could use some work on - more informative error messages!
